Plenary Presentation

"Russian as the State Language" in Higher Education: Course Content and Teaching Methodology

Olga Evgenyevna Drozdova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at RANEPA, Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Linguodidactic Projects at MPGU

The presentation will focus on the concept and instructional and methodological support for the new university course "Russian as the State Language". The course is being developed in the context of an instruction issued by the President of the Russian Federation to incorporate a corresponding module into the revised Federal State Educational Standards for Higher Education (FSES HE).

The speaker will present a course model based on three interconnected approaches: the axiological approach, which regards language as a value; the linguocultural approach, which emphasizes the inseparable relationship between language, culture, and the history of a nation; and the cross-curricular approach, which views language as a universal tool for thinking and professional activity.

Particular attention will be paid to the worldview-shaping dimension of the new course, its role in fostering a value-based attitude toward the Russian language, and an understanding of its significance in social and professional life.

The presentation will also address the thematic content of lectures, approaches to organizing the learning process, and methods for assessing students' learning outcomes.

We invite teachers, researchers, and specialists in linguistics and language education to participate in the conference and contribute to discussions on current issues in modern language education.
